I can’t think of a better place I enjoy stopping at to get a bite to eat when I travel. Cracker Barrel has one of the most delicious breakfasts you can get on the road. They serve breakfast like you wished you would make at home.
At Cracker Barrel we all have our favorite menu items but you can’t always go to the restaurant. The great thing is you can prepare your favorite copycat Cracker Barrel recipes at home.
Truth be told, I hate to cook breakfast at home. First off, I am not really a morning person. I do good to let the dog out and make a cup of coffee. Eventually, speech forms, which is often about 30 minutes after getting out of bed.
For me, cooking a meal first thing in the morning is inconceivable. So when I am out on the road, this type of sit-down breakfast is exactly what I am looking for.
Another one of the reasons I really love the Cracker Barrel menu is because they often have seasonal favorites. They have a great knack for adding menu items like the pumpkin custard during the holidays or even their chocolate pecan pie is a holiday favorite.

I like Cracker Barrel, but it irks me that they insist on slopping gravy on their fried chicken, which I despise. If I wanted gravy on a fried food I’d have ordered the chicken fried steak.
I did, they refused, both the waitress, and the manager when I complained. They said they had to serve it that way, I ended up ordering the catfish instead.
That’s surprising. I hate it went restaurants won’t make simple requests.
I don’t patronize that store anymore, and made sure their corporate offices heard why. Pity, I really like their fare.
I don’t do Cracker Barrel any longer also. My problem is that their portions have gotten soooo small. Not doing gravy on the side for you is a response of an rookie manager.
I go on rare occassions now. I think they have several good menu items, but for breakfast I really like the IHOP better. I feel like I get a better variety there.
I like adding my own gravy too!
You should try their Sunday Fried Chicken, and then order some gravy.
How about the seasonal cinnamon drop biscuits? I’m going to try another recipe for them, but I don’t think it sounds the same…not sure how to get the chunks in them!
I always love the grilled catfish fillets, does anyone know the seasoning that is on it. You use to be able to buy it and then they stopped selling it..

Actually, I live near Louisville, Kentucky, we don’t do gravy on ours here other than Dairy Queen and Cracker Barrel.

I love their Chicken and Rice. I get real disappointed if I ever go on a day other than Saturday, because that’s the only day they offer it!
